A homeless man was recently arrested on charges that he poured boiling water on a customer at a Starbucks in Fisherman’s Wharf, causing third degree burns.

The Feb. 20 assault reportedly occurred after the customer confronted the homeless man for allegedly stealing boxes of tea from the coffee shop at 2801 Jones St.

“In response, the thief threw a cup of boiling water on the man’s chest,” police at Central Station said.

The suspect fled and reportedly remained on the loose until March 30, when the victim spotted him in front of 502 Jefferson St., police said.

The victim called police, and an arrest was made after an officer located a witness to the February assault who could positively identify the suspect.
