Due to low clouds, airport delays takeoffs and landings

Flights at San Francisco International Airport were delayed by one to two hours Sunday afternoon because of the airport’s characteristic low cloud ceiling that stalled takeoffs and landings. Airport Duty Manager Lily Wang said that the most affected flights were those traveling along the West Coast.

Feds finalize money for BART-to-SFO extension

The U.S. Department of Transportation has finalized its $750 million commitment to the Bay Area Rapid Transit service extension to San Francisco International Airport, Rep. Tom Lantos, D-San Mateo/San Francisco, announced recently. The DOT has allocated a final $2.4 million payment for the extension, he said. Federal funding comprised roughly half the cost of bringing BART trains to SFO.


Pedestrian hit on El Camino last week recovering

A woman is recovering after being hit by a car in the crosswalk at El Camino Real and Hillcrest Boulevard on Friday morning. She sustained minor injuries and was taken to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment. A number of pedestrians have been struck on El Camino in Millbrae, where a combination of speedy traffic and unlighted crosswalks have some concerned that it’s too dangerous a place to walk.

Spring gardening workshops continue this weekend

The city continues its spring gardening workshops series this weekend with a session on proper irrigation for the home garden. The workshop takes place from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday in the community room at the Millbrae Library, located at 1 Library Way.
