Armed goons rob Excelsior business, rough up employee

Two armed goons robbed an Excelsior business Saturday and roughed up the employee, police said.

Two men in their 30s entered a business in the 4900 block of Mission Street around 5:45 p.m. and demanded the money from the cash register, police said. One of the crooks held a gun on the employee while the other snatched the cash from the register.

Then the crooks dragged the employee, a 50-year-old woman, to the back room and demanded she open the safe, police said. She complied and handed over the money that was in the safe. The two crooks fled on foot and no arrests have been made.

The woman sustained a head injury and was treated at the hospital. The injury was not life threatening, police said.
