Police are hunting for a drugstore cowboy who held up a pharmacy in the Castro district Monday afternoon — but not for cash.

The shameless dope fiend walked into the drugstore in the 400 block of Castro Street about 2:45 p.m. and handed over a note that stated he had a gun.

He didn’t want money, police said, instead demanding “medication.” The man threatened to shoot if he didn’t receive any. No gun was seen, but the clerk feared for his life and handed over meds. The suspect fled and no arrests were reported as of Tuesday, police said.
