Appointees take another run

Two mayoral appoints will again be up for confirmation on Tuesday by the Board of Supervisors.

Joe Marshall, the Police Commission president, and Joe Arrellano, nominated for the Juvenile Probation Commission, are on the supervisors’ agenda.

Supervisors have held up confirming the pair due to their stances on immigration policies. Marshall has refused to take a stance on the Secure Communities program, while Arellano, a former mayoral spokesman, has sided with Mayor Gavin Newsom’s sanctuary city policy.

The Rules Committee on Thursday recommended that Marshall be reappointed, while saying that Arellano should be rejected. It would take a two-thirds vote to reject Arellano’s appointment.
