Anderson set to make 2012 debut for A’s

The A’s activated left-handed pitcher Brett Anderson from the 60-day disabled list on Monday, and he is scheduled to make his first major-league start of the season today against the Minnesota Twins.

Anderson had Tommy John surgery performed on his left elbow on July 14, 2011, and he has not pitched in a major-league game since June 5, 2011. He made six appearances, including five starts, for Triple-A Sacramento in his rehab assignment. He was 1-1 with a 4.62 ERA. The A’s also optioned right-handed pitcher Dan Straily to Triple-A Sacramento and designated catcher Anthony Recker for assignment.
