Amid Blagojevich trial, Durbin says WH job offers are ‘an old story…not unsual’ 

Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin, D-Ill., on the Sestak and Romanoff job offer scandals:

“It’s an old story. It applies to presidents in all administrations,” Durbin told The Hill. “I don’t find it surprising and I certainly don’t think there’s anything unusual about it.”

Durbin has a laudable amount of nerve. Even as he downplayed the White House’s offer of jobs in exchange for political favors, his fellow Illinois Democrat, Rod Blagojevich, was being tried in federal court for doing something very similar, although seedier, involving the trade of a U.S. Senate seat.
