The 10 teams scheduled to compete in the Red Bull Youth America's Cup received the AC45 catamarans on Monday in San Francisco and began practicing. The series is scheduled for Sept. 1-4, in between the Louis Vuitton Cup Finals, which pit Luna Rossa against Emirates Team New Zealand, and the America's Cup Finals.
The United States and New Zealand each have two youth teams competing, while Australia, France, Germany, Portugal, Sweden and Switzerland round out the field.
The youth series was created to give youth sailors a pathway to becoming an America's Cup sailor.
