American Airlines back to schedule

All American Airlines flights returned to schedule in the Bay Area on Sunday and should continue that way, authorities from various airports have reported.

The airline said that its fleet of 300 MD-80 jetliners was back to full strength. There were about 100 American Airlines flights canceled at airports in San Francisco, San Jose and Oakland last week as the company inspected the wiring on its jets. About 3,300 flights American flights in all were canceled across the nation.

The cancellations, which began Tuesday, declined steadily after Wednesday until a single departure was canceled in San Jose on Saturday. The last cancellations at SFO and Oakland were Friday.
