Amanda Bynes makes deal in DUI case 

Things are looking up for former Nickelodeon star Amanda Bynes, who is now a former defendant thanks to a plea deal that resolved a drunken driving charge.

CNN and Us Weekly report that Bynes’ lawyer, appearing in court in Los Angeles, entered a no contest plea to reckless driving. In exchange, the actress’ DUI charge was dismissed, and she was placed on three years’ probation. The 27-year-old star also must attend an alcohol education course and pay a fine.

The DUI charge stems from an April 2012 car crash where Bynes allegedly sideswiped a police car in West Hollywood. The case was delayed after Bynes entered a rehab facility to get treatment for mental illness back in September.

The actress — who was just 10 when she joined the cast of Nickelodeon’s “All That” in 1996 and was given her own variety show in 1999 — finished treatment and returned to her parents before the holidays, and has since been making progress in her recovery.

Some of her other troubles have disappeared, too.

A New York criminal case relating to an incident involving a bong allegedly tossed from her Manhattan apartment window was dropped last month.
