A.M. stock check: Advanced Micro Devices up 

The Sunnyvale semiconductor company Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) leads local companies in early trading this morning, up more than 2 percent. Nvidia Corp. (NVDA) is also slightly up this morning, trading above 1.5 percent.

Companies trending down this morning are Yahoo! Inc. (YHOO), SunPower Corp. (SPWR) and Chevron Corp. (CVX). Yahoo is down more than 3 percent per share, and shares of SunPower are down more than 2 percent in early trading.

Yahoo also has the most shares changing hands this morning with trading at a volume of 8.1 million. Apple Inc. (AAPL) has the second highest volume this morning at 4.79 million.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average Index is trending down this morning, with the index down more than 30 points.

In other stock news, Chevron will pay $5.5 million in a wrongful termination lawsuit, according to the San Jose Mercury News. News reports also say that Google, Inc. (GOOG) is expected to launch a new method for cellphones to provide applications and services the way the Internet does.
