Allegedly funny hat man beaten on Muni

A man was beaten on a Muni bus by three apparently more stylish thugs who were making fun of his hat.

But a witness told a cop that the funny hat man threw the first punch during the Wednesday spat.

The beating occurred in the 300 block of Reposa Way, near Miraloma Park neighborhood, about 2:35 p.m.

A cop responding to the assault call found the man at the scene still bleeding from his head. He told the officer he was attacked by "three white males" after they ridiculed his hat. He said he was kicked once, punched about eight times and then hit with something hard on top of the head, police said.

"A witness stated that he observed the victim being made fun of," police said. " However, the witness claims that he saw the victim throw the first punch."

The man was transported to the hospital with injuries not life threatening, police said.

No arrests have been reported.
