All-Star voting unkind to A’s

Third baseman Eric Chavez represents the only A’s player to crack the top five in voting for July 10’s All-Star Game held at AT&T Park. He is holding steady at fourth place among American League hot-corner specialists with 182,533 votes, but that won’t be good enough to compete with the Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez, who has the most votes of any AL player with 1,404,001 votes. The A’s representative(s) may just need to be picked by AL manager Jim Leyland.
