Ala. university suspect wants report kept secret

A lawyer for an Alabama professor accused of killing three colleagues has asked a judge to keep a report into the 1986 killing of her brother secret.

Amy Bishop's lawyer says releasing the report from an inquest into the death of her brother Seth in Massachusetts could prejudice a jury against her in Alabama, where she faces a possible death sentence.

The former biology professor at the University of Alabama in Huntsville is charged with opening fire on her co-workers in 2010.

After the shootings, a Massachusetts judge conducted an inquest into Seth's death. The shooting at the family's Braintree home had been ruled an accident, but after the inquest, a grand jury indicted Bishop for murder.

A Norfolk Superior Court judge didn't immediately rule on the request Wednesday.
