Airlines sign 10-year leases valued at $356 million

Six airlines have signed on for 10 years at the San Francisco International Airport. The leases go into effect July 1, 2011. Under the leases, the airport will receive $356 million in total payment.

The airlines include Alaska, Continental, US Airways, Kalitta Air, Nippon Cargo and Southern Air.

The Board of Supervisors Budget and Finance Committee approved the leases Wednesday.

There are 60 airlines with leases or permits to operate at SFO. Twenty-four airlines have leases set to expire in June 2011. The airport is expected to bring another batch of leases for approval by January.
