Aha Yoga director Inez Shedd-Unitus on connecting with your breath

The owner and director of Aha Yoga, 1892 Union St., is hosting transformational breath seminars around the state throughout the year. Details can be found at www.breathe2000.com.

Why should people have yoga in their lives? Through practicing the process of yoga, you become more self-aware, present and conscious of your behaviors and what’s happening in your life. When you’re practicing, fundamentally you are connecting with your breath. There is nothing more profound than this in the human experience.

What will people get out of the transformational breath seminar? It’s a powerful healing modality that helps people integrate past feelings and emotions that are troublesome, so that next time it comes up, it won’t have the same energy or charge. A therapist once told me that it’s like getting five years of therapy.

What is different about the seminar? It’s a fully connected circular breath that utilizes the upper and lower belly, chest and breathing. It also involves toning, body mapping and positive affirmations, and helps people move energy.
