AG hopeful Harris raises $1 million in 6 months

In an open letter to her 18,484 Facebook fans, San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris thanked her supporters for raising more than $1 million in the last six months (the actual campaign contributions aren’t public until Monday).

That adds up to $2.3 million in contributions since Harris announced her run for attorney general in November of 2008.

“Another powerful statistic: nearly one-half of these campaign contributions were made online,” reads the message. “And the overwhelming majority of contributions -- about 90 percent -- came from individuals like you.”

Of course, Harris has also tapped into the pockets of Hollywood heavyweights such as Steven Spielberg and David Geffen, along with local powerbrokers Dede Wilsey and the Don Fisher family.
