After seven long years, Dirty Vegas is back with ‘Electric Love’

Has it really been seven long years since we’ve heard a new studio recording from British house-rock trio Dirty Vegas?

It has.

But the Grammy-winning group — who first came to prominence when their addictive song “Days Go By” was paired with a Mitsubishi Eclipse TV advert — have returned with a floor-thumping new set, “Electric Love,” coming April 26 on Om Records. And they’re even offering a free download of the title track at their website

The video is already a YouTube hit, and features actress Jena Malone.

And the group (vocalist Steve Smith Smith, producer/multi-instrumentalist Ben Harris and Paul Harris) isn’t pulling any punches. They’ve already fired off Single No. 2, “Changes,” with bonus remixes by Felix Da Housecat, Blonde Rocka, Julien Nolan & Red-Eye, and DJ Ortzy.

A second version, “Changes 2,” is being prepared, with more knob-twiddling by Mike Monday, In Flagranti and Body Language.

More good news: Dirty Vegas is touring, hitting Coachella on April 16 for a DJ set in the Heineken Dome, then returning to San Francisco’s Mezzanine for a full band performance on May 7.
