Ad attacks Harris; Gascon and Hennessey come to her defense

The latest attack ad from former Facebook counsel Chris Kelly goes after District Attorney Kamala Harris for things you’ve probably already read in The Examiner and the local media.

Harris’ campaign struck back quickly though, calling Kelly “desperate” and getting backup from both of The City’s top law enforcement officials.

San Francisco Chief of Police George Gascon, a steadfast Harris supporter, said in a statement that Kelly’s ad was untrue and that Harris “knows what it takes to effectively fight crime and keep our streets safe.”

Sheriff Michael Hennessey went one step further and called Harris “the toughest prosecutor we have had” in his 30 years as sheriff, citing her “record of innovation and combating all types of crime.”
