A warning to anybody looking to pop the question this Valentine’s Day: The bar has been set, and it’s been set sky-high.

The rock star beau of Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi, known to Western audiences for “Memoirs of a Geisha” and “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” delivered his marriage proposal via a drone over the weekend, The Associated Press confirmed Monday.

The drone swooped into a party for Zhang’s 36th birthday Saturday to deliver an engagement ring to singer Wang Feng, 43, who then requested Zhang’s hand in the usual fashion: on bended knee and next to a pastel, three-tiered birthday cake.

In Wang’s proposal, which sounds like it was run through Google Translate a few too many times, he reportedly rhapsodized, “Witnessed by all, we have experienced happiness and sorrow. I hope Ziyi can always have the happiest time. If we both are old, I can still take care of you.”

Zhang tearfully accepted his proposal and the couple shared a kiss as fireworks lit up the night sky, according to Chinese media reports, which were presumably written by swooning 13-year-old girls.

S.F. ARTIST REX RAY DIES AT 58

San Francisco artist Rex Ray, who was known for colorful, ’60s-inspired paintings, died Monday at age 58 after a long battle with cancer, according to Gallery 16.

Gallery 16, which exhibited Ray’s work, said the San Francisco Art Institute grad got his start doing “guerrilla marketing” for nightclubs and protest groups before returning to his studio practice and creating books such as “Rex Ray: Art + Design.”

Writing about the 2007 book, critic Douglas Coupland said, “Rex’s art correlates closely to that of other artists who seemingly cross over from design or pop art graphics, such as Takashi Murakami or Ryan McGinness.”

Ray was also known for his concert posters for artists such as Paul McCartney and Radiohead, and he did commissions for Apple, Levi’s and Neiman Marcus.

The last post on Ray’s Facebook wall, where in recent weeks he’d posted links about the Dalai Lama and local bookstores, was made Monday and reads “I’ve left the building. xo.”
