A very rude wake-up call

A good reminder to never leave valuables inside a parked car — yourself included.

A woman was sleeping in her car Friday around 4:30 a.m. when she was stirred by the jarring sounds of broken glass, police said.

The startled sleeper awoke to see a broken car window and a seedy suspect standing just outside her car, police said. She screamed and the glass-shattering suspect fled, they said.

Officers responded to the scene and said they quickly found a man who fit the victim’s description. The burglar was positively identified by the woman and taken into custody at Geary and Taylor streets, police said.

The suspect was also on active parole for burglary, police said.
