A good friend punished

You can get by with a little help from your friends, but that doesn’t mean your friend won’t get stabbed for the effort.

A 21-year-old man was knifed early Tuesday after trying to prevent an unknown assailant from stealing his buddy’s cell phone, police said.

The incident was reported around 1:30 a.m. in the 4000 block of 18th Street.

The victim was treated at a hospital for his wound, but left before an officer could speak to him about the crime, police said.

The suspect fled the scene and is at large, police said.
