9-year-old Philadelphia Phillies fan struck in hit-run crash after San Francisco Giants game

A 9-year-old Philadelphia Phillies fans who had just watched his team beat the Giants at AT&T Park Thursday night was seriously injured in a hit-run car rampage, according to police and news reports.

An allegedly drunken 21-year-old man in a 2004 Toyota Tundra plowed into the boy at Mission and New Montgomery streets around 10:30 p.m. He then sped off, striking  "numerous" parked and moving vehicles while fleeing to the freeway, police said.

Witnesses chasing after the truck were able to report the license plate number to cops. The driver was later arrested in Hayward, police said. He has yet to be identified.

The boy was in the crosswalk with a family member and had run ahead, police said. The driver had been going the wrong way on the one-way New Montgomery and struck the child while turning westbound onto Mission.

The boy did not suffer any brain damage, according to KTVU, which says it is in contact with a family member.
