60-Plus piles on in three border districts

60-Plus, the conservative senior citizens’ organization, is spending six-figure amounts in three border districts where Democrats are still narrowly favored to win:

  • TX-27: $146,000 for television ads against Rep. Solomon Ortiz, D
  • AZ-7 & 8: $118,000 for television ads against Reps. Raul Grijalva, D, and Gabbie Giffords, D.
  • AZ-8: Another $118,000 in television ads against Giffords.

Grijalva is now in danger of losing because he called for a boycott of Arizona at a time when many of his constituents were experiencing local unemployment rates of 20 percent. Giffords is in a fair-fight seat recently held by the GOP. Ortiz is being dogged by corruption allegations.
