555 Washington votes delayed again

A ruling on the fate of the proposed 555 Washington project, a new condo tower planned next to the Transamerica Pyramid, was delayed until April due to an administrative error.

Public notices sent to neighbors of the proposed North Beach-adjacent project downtown failed to note that parks and planning commissioners today would vote on agenda item 8, according to Planning Director John Rahaim.

The item related to changes to Mark Twain Alley, which is proposed to be vacated, landscaped and improved as part of the project and connected with a revitalized Redwood Park to improve pedestrian experiences.

Commissioners plan to meet again April 15 to vote on items numbered six through eight on today’s nine-item agenda.

The entire hearing was postponed Feb. 11 because one planning commissioner was absent and the rest of the planning commission was split on whether an environmental impact analysis for the project met legal requirements.
