50-year-old suffers mysterious head injury in Tenderloin

A 50-year-old man is in life-threatening condition after being struck in the head, police said.

Police responded to a call about 1 p.m. Friday to check on a man who was lying unconscious near the entrance of a garage in the 1100 block of Ellis Street in the Tenderloin. When they arrived, the man was unconscious and covered in blood. His injuries were caused by blunt-force trauma, police said. No arrests were made as of Monday.
