The 49ers were closing in on a new deal with wide receiver Anquan Boldin, ESPN reported Sunday. Boldin is scheduled to be a free agent this offseason, but after a year in which he caught 85 passes for 1,178 yards, the Niners appear to be trying to keep him in the fold.

Boldin came over in a trade last offseason from the Baltimore Ravens and the 49ers were hoping to have a full season of Boldin paired with fellow receiver Michael Crabtree, but an injury forced Crabtree to miss the first 11 games.
