49ers offer condolences to family of fan who died at game 

San Francisco 49ers representatives today offered condolences to the family of the 31-year-old man who died after falling 20 feet from the upper concourse at the 49ers football game held Sunday at Monster Park.

"It is with great sadness that the 49ers organization learned of the death of one of our fans during the 49ers game on Sunday. On behalf of all of us at the 49ers we express our sincere condolences to his family and friends," according to the 49ers franchise.

The man, unidentified pending notification of his family, reportedly took a break from watching the game a few minutes before the end of the first half, according to San Francisco Police Sgt. Neville Gittens.

Police report that the man went to the exterior of the stadium to sit on a ramp wall between sections 7 and 5, but misjudged the wall and fell 20 feet to the mezzanine level.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

San Francisco 49ers reported that based on the investigation conducted by police, the death is being investigated as accidental.
