49ers fans plan to plot over drinks

Officials and fans who are working to convince the 49ers to remain in San Francisco plan to discuss their efforts over drinks at Pete’s Tavern on Wednesday evening.

Everybody is welcome at the 6 p.m. event, at 128 King St., according to organizer Michael Antonini.

“There’s no charge, just come and have a good time and buy some drinks,” he said. “We’ll answer any questions.”

Some Santa Clara activists opposed to the proposed use of their city’s public funds to help build a new stadium for the franchise are expected at the get-together.

Antonini has been critical of Santa Clara officials’ efforts to poach the 49ers away from San Francisco in time for the 2014 season.
