These illicit anglers made quite a catch, even if they didn’t haul it out of the sea.

More than 400 pounds of fresh fish and crab was stolen from a fishery at Pillar Point Harbor near Half Moon Bay last weekend, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.

The seafood was packaged for delivery at Morningstar Fisheries, sheriff’s Lt. Larry Schumaker said, but then something fishy happened between 7 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. Monday.

There were no signs of forced entry, Schumaker said.

The haul included 198 pounds of halibut, 150 pounds of crab, 86 pounds of flounder and 10 pounds of sand sole, all worth more than $2,100, Schumaker said.

The case is under investigation, he said, and there were no known suspects as of Wednesday.
