311 pushed as tenant complaint hotline 

Supervisor David Campos introduced legislation Tuesday to inform SRO residents about the use of The City’s 311 information hotline as a tenant complaint hotline.

The City’s 311 informational hotline is now also a place for residents of single-occupancy hotels, which provides housing for those with low-income, to alert The City about housing conditions, such as complaints of pests, inadequate heat or water, leaky pipes and blocked fire exits.

In the past, Campos said the complaint process was unclear but now there is a “one stop shop” for the complaints. The legislation requires the SRO buildings to “post a notice in a visible place letting SRO residents know that they have the right to call 311.”
