3.0 quake strikes east of San Jose 

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.0 struck in Santa Clara County shortly after noon today, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The earthquake occurred at 12:03 p.m. and had a depth of about 4 miles.

The quake was centered 10 miles east of the Seven Trees area, 11 miles north of Morgan Hill and 13 miles east-southeast of San Jose City Hall, according to the USGS.
