An 18-year-old man was shot in the Bayview district Saturday afternoon, but the suspected assailants were captured by police shortly after the incident.

The young man was shot twice by two males who approached him as he stood at the intersection of Third Street and Gilman Avenue about 3:45 p.m., according to San Francisco police.

After shooting the man, who did not suffer life-threatening injuries, the two suspects fled to a nearby home in the 1000 block of Fitzgerald Avenue, police said. A witness reportedly informed responding officers of the suspects’ whereabouts.

Officers spoke with a resident of the house and were allowed into the home, an SFPD spokesman said. They reportedly found two males who fit the description of the shooters, and both were taken into custody.

A search of the residence also turned up several guns, police said.

The victim was in stable condition at San Francisco General Hospital as of Sunday.

Police said the department’s gang task force is handling the investigation, and video surveillance that captured the incident is being reviewed.
