18-year-old Oakland shooting victim identified

An 18-year-old man fatally shot in Oakland late Saturday night has been identified as city resident Eric Alexander Toscano, a police spokesman said Sunday.

Officers responded to the 7800 block of Ney Avenue at about 10:35 p.m. where they found four victims suffering from gunshot wounds, Oakland police spokesman Jeff Thomason said.

All four were transported to local hospitals, and Toscano was pronounced dead at Highland Hospital a short time later, Thomason said.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Oakland Police Department’s Homicide Section at (510) 238-3821.
