16-year-old beaten, grandma robbed in Mission

A 16-year-old’s tooth was knocked out and his 78-year-old grandmother was robbed of her purse Thursday night after two teenage punks attacked them in the Mission district, police said.

The victims were reportedly walking on the sidewalk in the area of 24th and Capp streets at about 6 p.m. when the juveniles, described only as 16-year-olds, began beating up the teenager.

While one of the thugs punched the boy “several times in the face and mouth,” the other struck him on the head, police said.

The suspects then allegedly snatched the 78-year-old woman’s purse, which included her wallet and cash. The woman was not injured, police said, and her grandson’s injuries were minor.

The 16-year-old said he did not know the suspects and could not provide a detailed description of them, Officer Gordon Shyy said.
