16-year-old arrested for afternoon robberies

Once upon a time, 16-year-old bullies demanded lunch money.

On Monday, a boy of that age was arrested on charges that he assaulted a younger boy for a smartphone at Green and Octavia streets in San Francisco, according to police.

The 14-year-old victim was approached from behind at about 4 p.m. and grabbed by the neck. The 16-year-old then swiped the cellphone from the victim’s pant pocket and fled on foot.

Soon after, police said, Park Station officers caught the teenager as he was allegedly attempting rob another victim. The 14-year-old’s smartphone was reportedly recovered.
