15-year-old shot in San Francisco Mission district altercation

A 15-year-old boy was shot in the thigh during a Mission district street spat Monday night, police said.

The boy was riding his bicycle with an 18-year-old man when they had a confrontation with two males in the 100 block of Valencia Street about 10:30 p.m.

One of the suspects fired at the pair with a handgun. A resident of the area said she heard up to seven gunshots. A description of the suspects was not immediately available.

The victims fled on their bicycles. Only the 15-year-old was hit. Police attended to the injured teenager in the 1700 block of 15th Street. By the time cops arrived, his 18-year-old pal had fled, police said.

The 15-year-old was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, but his injuries were not considered life-threatening.
