100 banners to line SF streets

Earth Day isn’t until April, but you can catch a glimpse of how The City will commemorate that day this Saturday at the Bayview Opera House.

To celebrate Earth Day, the Urban Forest Project will line the streets of San Francisco with 100 banners designed by renowned local artists, designers and students. The banners will include the form, idea or a characteristic of a tree to make “powerful visual statements about the environment,” organizers said.

On Saturday, The Urban Forest Project San Francisco will host a preview event party at the Bayview Opera House from 2-4 p.m. to “celebrate the artwork created by mentoring teams that paired professional designers…with local Bay Area high school students, as well as artwork from Academy of Art University students and alumni,” organizers said.
