1 injured, 11 displaced by Daly City fire

One man was injured and 11 people were displaced when a three-alarm fire damaged three homes in Daly City on Wednesday evening, a North County Fire Authority spokesman said.

The fire started at about 5 p.m. in the rear of a house at 159 Santa Cruz Ave., spokesman Matt Lucett said.

It burned the outside and backyard areas and damaged two adjacent houses before fire personnel contained the blaze at about 5:45 p.m., he said.

One resident was taken to the Kaiser Permanente South San Francisco Medical Center after suffering a burn on his hand and experiencing respiratory problems, Lucett said.

He said the fire displaced nine adults, including the man who was injured, as well as two children, three birds and one dog. The Red Cross assisted the residents tonight.

Investigators were still trying to determine Wednesday evening what caused the fire.
