FAVORITE YOGA STUDIO
WHERE: 2425 Chestnut St., at Divisadero Street
WHAT: Friendly place to do Bikram yoga
INFO: (415) 292-9774 or www.globalyogasf.com
I love the orange room and the multitude of sessions throughout the day. My favorite instructor is Chad, because he knows when I’m feeling lazy and calls me out, pushes me on my poses and does “express Bikram yoga,” where you are done in exactly 90 minutes.
FAVORITE MOTORCYCLE RIDE
WHERE: Northwestern edge of The City
WHAT: Wooded hills with ocean views
The winding roads have beautiful scenery, and when the road ends, you can see the ocean. After a long ride, I just park my bike by the Cliff House and take in the Pacific all the way to Point Reyes.
WHERE: 846 Divisadero St., at Fulton Street
WHAT: Best damn pizza I’ve ever had!
INFO: (415) 441-1118 or www.littlestarpizza.com
They’re known for their deep-dish cornmeal-crust pizzas. Long time to make, but worth the wait. Can eat in or take out. Cash only, so come prepared. My favorite pizza is the Little Star, which has the sauce on top. Also try their garlic bread made with fresh garlic.
FOR MY FAVORITE DRINK
WHERE: 2175 Chestnut St., at Steiner Street
WHAT: Always packed for a reason
INFO: (415) 673-7100 or www.delarosasf.com
Family-style shared tables make it cozy, and the full bar makes it fun. I always order the Martinez prepared by Andy because it’s the original grandfather of the gin martini, and he does it right.
FAVORITE INDIAN RESTAURANT
WHERE: 600 Folsom St., at Second Street
WHAT: One of the best Indian restaurants in S.F.
INFO: (415) 974-5510 or www.mehfilindian.com
I know Indian restaurants, and this is the real thing. For delivery or dine-in, the food is prepared authentically. Some of my favorite dishes are chicken tikka masala, lamb biryana, chicken tikka, aloo benjan, saag paneer and paneer makhani. For dessert, try the gulab jamun.
FAVORITE TEQUILA BAR
WHERE: 741 Valencia St., at 19th Street
WHAT: Check out the tequila bar
INFO: (415) 626-1344 or www.tacolicioussf.com
The food is great, but the best part of this location is the tequila bar. The staff is very knowledgeable on tequila, especially Dyanna and Enrique. Ask for a tequila sampler and let them know if you like strong or aromatic flavors. Make sure you have a ride home!
FAVORITE MOTORCYCLE SHOP
WHERE: 412 Valencia St., at 15th Street
WHAT: Look for the big green garage door
INFO: (415) 626-3496 or www.munroemotors.com
The staff is knowledgeable, especially Samson Ng, the sales manager. Their service department gets to the bottom of any problem and communicates during the repair process. I trust them with my Ducati Hypermotard, and they have never let me down. Great selection of European bikes, including the Royal Enfield.
FAVORITE COFFEE PLACE
Blue Bottle Coffee
WHERE: 315 Linden St., at Octavia Street
WHAT: Where everybody waits in a long line
INFO: (415) 252-7535 or www.bluebottlecoffee.net
I like it because it’s simple, straight-forward coffee. I really love their lattes and New Orleans iced coffee. My wife has a sweet tooth, so she loves their affogato (ice cream and coffee). It’s worth the wait!
WHERE: 220 California St., at Battery Street
WHAT: The wine list comes on iPads!
INFO: (415) 955-1919 or www.barbaccosf.com
The food is great — best lasagna I’ve ever had. I also love the angry mussels with nduja sausage — spicy! Great wine selection and friendly attentive service. Casual yet elegant in the heart of the Financial District.
