Yee’s consumer protection bill signed into law 

Legislation by state Sen. Leland Yee, D-San Mateo-San Francisco, to prevent consumers from falling victim to automatic renewals for products and services was signed into law. SB 340 requires businesses to make automatic renewal terms clear and obtain the customer’s consent at the time of the agreement or purchase. “The onus should not fall on the consumer to stop unfair charges,” Yee said.
