Fans of the ultracool British imprint XL Recordings, rejoice!
The chic imprint is finally offering a stateside web store, opening its metaphorical doors to provide devout XL collectors with nothing but the best in special-edition vinyl.
Just a quick skim through its award-winning artists should give you an idea what to expect — The Horrors, Sigur Ros, Radiohead, and — of course — the biggest-selling artist of the year, brassy blues belter Adele.
Not to mention notable up-and-comers like Tyler, The Creator and the Mercury Prize-winning The xx.
Initial web exclusives look quite promising: A new Portishead 12” single called “Chase The Tear,” benefitting Amnesty International, and Dizzee Rascal’s long-out-of-print LP “Boy In Da Corner.” A cache of his vinyl album was just uncovered in the Netherlands, and is now on offer via XL’s outlet.
Also, the 2011 XL Vinyl Sampler is still available, in limited quantity, for $10, or free with any purchase of $50 or more. Vinyl titles from XL’s current catalog, including Vampire Weekend’s No. 1 disc “Contra,” will also be available.
