  • Giants bench coach Ron Wotus has reportedly interviewed with the Mariners about their managerial opening.

Giants bench coach Ron Wotus has interviewed for the Seattle Mariners' vacant manager position, Comcast SportsNet Bay Area reported Monday.

Wotus has been the Giants' bench coach since 1999 and has served under managers Dusty Baker, Felipe Alou and now Bruce Bochy.

The 52-year-old Wotus has managed in the minor leagues before and interviewed in the past for a couple big-league openings, but has yet to manage in the majors.

Wotus is apparently in the running with A's bench coach Chip Hale and San Diego Padres bench coach Rick Renteria to replace Eric Wedge, who was not retained by the Mariners after a 71-91 season.
