San Francisco police today released a sketch of a man believed to have sexually assaulted a 38-year-old woman in broad daylight Friday afternoon at Crocker Amazon Park.
According to police, the woman was jogging at the park -- near the basketball court above the soccer field -- at about 4:30 p.m. when an unknown man forced her into a nearby grassy area and assaulted her.
Police said the woman may have scratched the suspect on the right forearm while defending herself.
The attacker then fled on foot toward Brookdale Avenue heading into the public housing development there, police said.
The suspect was described as a black man in his early 20s, about 6 feet tall, with a thin, athletic build. He had short black hair, brown eyes, an oval face, no facial hair and a medium complexion, according to police. He was last seen without a shirt and wearing black shorts and black-and-red “Jordan” sneakers.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the police Sex Crimes Detail at (415) 553-1361, the anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444, or by texting TIP411.
