A woman was hospitalized Thursday night after being struck by Muni’s M-Ocean View train in the Sunset district.

The accident occurred at 7:25 p.m. near the intersection of 19th Avenue and Randolph Street, according to the San Francisco Police Department. The woman, 19, suffered head trauma as a result of the accident and was transferred to the San Francisco General Hospital, where she was in serious but stable condition, police said.

Paul Rose, spokesman for the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, which manages Muni, said the operator involved in the accident has been placed on nondriving status while the agency reviews what happened. The operator has also been tested for drugs and alcohol, which is standard procedure at the agency following an accident.
