  • A woman was critically injured in a fight in the Tenderloin on Wednesday.

A 57-year-old woman was critically injured during a fight in the Tenderloin on Tuesday morning, police Officer Gordon Shyy said.

The victim was reportedly involved in a physical altercation with two other women near O'Farrell and Jones streets about 5 a.m., third party witnesses told police, when a man got involved in the fight and punched the victim, rendering her unconscious as her head slammed into the pavement.

A witness who originally called 911 said that the victim had sustained her injuries from a fall, Shyy said. Doctors told police they believed her injuries were not consistent with a fall and police sent out investigators Wednesday to canvas the area for witnesses and to further investigate the crime scene.

The victim is still in the hospital with critical injuries, Shyy said. Because of her present condition, police are unable to find out more about her alleged attackers at this time.

The suspects were only described as a man in all dark clothing and two unknown women, Shyy said. No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information on the incident is encouraged to call police at (415) 575-4444 or text at TIP411 with "SFPD" in the message.
