Woman brutally attacked resisting robbery

A woman who resisted a robbery in Ingleside Heights was dragged on the ground and strangled Sunday, police said.

The 23-year-old woman was hospitalized but is expected to survive the brutal attack in the 400 block of Head Street just after 10 p.m.

The thug, described only as a man in his 30s, came at the woman from behind and snatched her phone from her purse, police said. The thug then became violent when the victim refused to give up the purse. He threw her “to the ground, dragged her and strangled her,” police said.

The woman finally gave up her purse, and the suspect fled, police said.

The victim lost an iPhone 4, wallet, credit cards and her San Francisco State University identification card, police said.

There has been no arrest.
