Woman assaulted, robbed of cellphone on Muni in downtown SF

A woman was assaulted and robbed on a Muni bus in downtown San Francisco on Monday, police said.

The 44-year-old victim got onto a bus in the 100 block of Kearny Street about 5:28 p.m. and walked past one of the suspects, a woman about 18 years old who grabbed the suspect’s hair while her accomplice, an 18-year-old man, grabbed the victim’s cellphone from her back pocket, police said.

The two crooks jumped off the bus and the victim gave chase, police said.

The male suspect pulled out a knife and told the victim to back off. He also reportedly dropped her cellphone as he and the female suspect fled.

It was unclear if the victim was able to recover her phone. She sustained a bruised head in the assault and was treated at the hospital, but her injuries were not life-threatening.
