American Society of Anesthesiologists Political Action Committee has put $148,000 into a new ad for Andy Harris, the Republican challenger to endangered Rep. Frank Kratovil, D-Md. Harris is an obstetric anesthesiologist, and the radio ad reportedly says, “As a doctor, Andy Harris knows better than most what we need for real health care reform.”

Meanwhile, an unusual independent expenditure by an individual in neighboring Virginia. Richard Viguerie has just spent $1,950 on direct mail to help Keith Fimian, R, who is challenging freshman Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-Va., in the D.C. suburbs.
