The question on everyone’s minds in the wake of Amy Winehouse’s death: Was it the drug demons she famously faced that finally did her in?
It was too late to save the British singer when medics found her at her London home Saturday afternoon. Though friends had called for an ambulance immediately when she collapsed, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 27-year-old singer’s death was initially classified as “unexplained,” but a police source reportedly told the U.K.’s Mirror, “This looks like she has died after a drink and drugs binge.” Sources told the paper she had taken a “bad” Ecstasy pill plus a great deal of alcohol, and that she had emphysema.
“She has spent the last seven days on a massive bender and people were saying she’s going to drink herself to death,” said one friend.
“There was always a danger of something like this,” said another friend. “Her drinking is totally out of control. She’s constantly out of control on vodka. She’d drink bottle after bottle, and mixing those quantities with drugs is lethal.”
Sad to say, this speculation should come as no surprise to anyone who has followed Amy, who made her name with a song defiantly celebrating her refusal to go to rehab. In fact, she did try treatment multiple times — the most recent stint was a week long, and she allegedly downed a bottle of vodka immediately before entering the facility.
She canceled a European tour after just one show, during which she was booed off the stage for turning in a slurred mess of a performance.
With all of Amy’s very public struggles with substance abuse, we always hoped that she would eventually find her footing and make an epic comeback.
Did another woman come between Jennifer Lopez and husband Marc Anthony? According to an Us magazine source, the pair, who recently announced their separation after seven years of marriage, almost called it quits two years ago over the crooner’s alleged dalliance with a flight attendant.
“Marc and Jennifer almost split up over it,” the source said. “Jennifer was going to leave him then, but Marc begged her to stay. They went to marriage counseling and she decided to give it another shot. He was someone she truly loved.”
Jennifer Aniston and beau Justin Theroux are evidently getting pretty serious! The new couple “are looking for a new house to move into together,” a Jen insider told People magazine.
The former “Friends” star is vacating her Beverly Hills manse, which she reportedly sold for a cool $38 million, at the end of this month. She’s also the new owner of two NYC apartments on adjacent floors that she reportedly plans to combine into a duplex.
They are “house hunting and hoping to find something in the next few weeks. She has looked at places to buy as well as places to rent in the Beverly Hills area,” an Us magazine source said. “The relationship is going extremely well and this is the next step to something they are hoping will be permanent.”
But are things moving too fast? After all, Justin only just moved out of the home he shared with his former girlfriend — of 14 years.
